BLUBBER JELLIES!!!

I just got a chance to get some blubber jellies recently, and I dove towards the deal. I ended up getting two white blubber jellies. The popular "Blue Blubber" is the same thing, besides my blubbers are from a different part of Australia were instead of being blue like the ones up north, they are either brown or white. The color depends on their eating habits. Anyway, I'm really exited to be able to get these jellies!

Upside Down Jellyfish Disaster

My Upside Down Jellies have been misformed and sad looking for the past week. By the time I found out, it was almost too late. Here they are evacuated into a small fish tank.
Their tank looked fine, but had hidden problems in the gravel. I stirred up just a little bit of gravel, and in seconds the tank went from crystal clear to this:
I'm not going to stop trying, however. Next time, I'm going to use no gravel, and have protected overflow that drains into another chamber that cleans the water with great detail.
The jellies are alive! Maybe 3/4 of the 8 of them can be saved. I'm already down to 8 jellies, and I started with 11.

If I have one thing to say, I would tell you all to make sure you change your water even if the water seems to be fine. Thanks for reading.

Polyps, More Polyps!

In case you don't know what a polyp is, it is basically a jellyfish making machine. The polyp is a big part of the jellyfish life cycle, as the video shows here:

The polyp is sexually produced by two jellies and the polyp then makes baby jellyfish asexually when the right conditions are present. As odd is it is, the polyp never becomes a jellyfish itself.

I have seen polyps (and baby jellyfish!) in my tank before, but I have had a little bit of a outbreak in the amount of polyps I have. Hopefuly I can give some of these to Travis Brandwood so he can raise them to sell on Thinkjellyfish!

Upside Down Jelly Baby!

I was sitting down on my laptop looking at my upside down jellies. I saw something super small and moving. At first I thought it was just a shrimp, but sure enough it was a baby upside down jellyfish. It is already 3-5 weeks old and I did not notice it until now. It is a very healthy little guy.

Video comming soon!
